Cindy Pennington is a self-taught artist who began crafting after meeting Alaska Native artists at the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage. Cindy uses Alutiiq and Alaskan motifs in her artwork to bring awareness to Alutiiq history and says that creating art allows her to share knowledge of Alutiiq culture with others. It is her hope that, through her art, the world can appreciate the culture, knowledge and history of Alutiiq people.
